An EMS-controlled system
The battery and your solar farm operate in parallel, controlled by an energy management system (EMS) that decides at every moment whether to charge or discharge the battery. It performs four functions:
- Analysing electricity prices
- Forecasting solar production
- Maximising revenue
- Managing the installation’s power
The battery also captures clipped energy: the share of solar production that exceeds the export capacity is stored rather than lost.
